Head, Safety & Security job Vacancy at Save the Children Nigeria

The role
The overall objective of this position is to mitigate the risks posed to the programmes, personnel and assets in SC in Nigeria through the provision of specialized, coordinated and focused security management support.
Qualifications and experience
  • Bachelors degree in a related field
  • Formal security qualification or advanced security management training
  • Advanced level of understanding with the philosophy and mode of operation of NGOs
  • Recommended a minimum of 5 years field based experience in complex and insecure settings, preferably in more than one country with large teams of staff
  • Experience in liaising with civilian, police and military government authorities, as well as with regional, national and international institutions
  • Experience of incident reporting, incident mapping, intelligence collation and analysis functions, set up and execution of an incident warning system (warden system), compilation of security reports and assessments
  • Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
  • Willingness to work and travel in often difficult and insecure environments
  • Competency in Internet and Microsoft Office systems including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and other database/mapping systems
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Knowledge and understanding of Nigeria and Sahel region
  • Ability to speak Hausa is an advantage
  • Strong analytical capacity, resourcefulness and creativity in developing the role of security within programmes and ensuring the most effective support to line management
  • Ability to balance demands of beneficiary and security actors while maintaining appropriate contextual NGO security advice and coordination
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
  • Excellent planning, coordination and reporting skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities

Federal University of Technology, Akure Vacancies for Experienced Bursar & Director of Works and Services Nigeria 2013


The Federal University of Technology, Akure, was established in August 1981 to give prominence to training in technology and applied science, and to assist in ensuring rapid technological and industrial development of Nigeria. It formally took off on 3rd November, 1982.
As it is imperative to give effect to the Vision of becoming one of the best Universities in the world, the University has prepared appropriate strategic and action plans to create partnership with corporate organizations, national and international foundations and trusts, embassies and individuals.

JOB POSITION: BURSAR: CONTISS 15 
THE PERSON:
The Candidate for the post shall be visionary, a person of high integrity and moral character with excellent interpersonal skills. She/he must be able to instil confidence in others and command the loyalty and respect of people. She/he must fully understand the complexity of the University system and must be able to effectively utilize its human resources to attain a world class financial system. She/he must enjoy good physical and mental health and must be ICT literate. In addition, she/he must be able to provide
good professional leadership and on-the-job proficiency training to the Bursary staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Bursar shall be the Chief Finance Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day financial administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must:
a)            possess a good honours degree in Accounting, Economics, Financial
Management from recognised tertiary institutions
b)            possess professionally recognized Accountancy qualifications, e.g. ICAN,
ACMA, ACA, CPA, ACCA, CNA. Possession of a higher degree will be an
added advantage.
c)            The candidate should have at least fifteen (15) years post-honours degree and
ten (10) years post-professional qualification experience. In addition, the
candidate must be holding the position of Deputy Bursar in a University or
equivalent in a comparable institution, with at least three years in the post.
d)            be computer literate and must be conversant with accounting and auditing
software.
e)            Be free from financial embarrassment and enjoy good physical and mental
health.
f)             be below the age of 60 years at the point of assumption of duty.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:
The successful candidate shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years in line with
Universities Miscellaneous Act 2012 and on such terms and conditions applicable to
Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined by appropriate University
Laws and the Governing Council. 


JOB POSITION: DIRECTOR OF WORKS AND SERVICES: CONTISS 15
THE PERSON
The Director must be a person of high integrity and moral character with excellent
interpersonal relations. She/he must be capable of carrying all staff of the Directorate along. She/he must also be receptive in line with the phased physical development plan of the University. She/he must enjoy good physical and mental health and must be ICT literate. In addition, she/he must be able to provide good professional leadership to the staff of the Directorate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Director of Works and Services is the Chief Technical and Maintenance Officer of
the University and responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day to day running and
maintenance of University building. Roads, Water boreholes. Electrical Installations,
Equipment and other properties including provision of service and utilities for the well-
being of the University.

QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must:
a.            have a good honours degree in Civil/Structural, Mechanical or Electrical
Engineering registrable with COREN with at least fifteen (15) years post-
qualification experience in Engineering, Building, Architecture,
b.            have at least 15 (fifteen) years post-qualification experience
c.             not be below the rank of a Deputy Director of Works and Maintenance in a
University or Similar Institution.
d.            Possession of a Post graduate Degree will be an added advantage,
e.            be registered member preferably fellow of relevant Professional bodies such
as Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of
Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), etc.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

The successful candidate shall hold office for a period of five years from the date of
assumption of office and may be re-appointed as may be determined by the
appropriate university laws and the Governing Council.
